Welcoming Rita

Please welcome The Rev. Rita Harrison, our Interim Rector

Update:

A letter from Bishop Bob Bennett:
I am pleased to inform you that I have extended the termed appointment of the Rev'd Rita Harrison as Transitional Priest in Charge of St. Anne's, Byron to May 31, 2017. I am pleased to hear that this ministry is beginning well but I understand that a year will not give the length of time needed to be confident that the parish is ready to receive a new rector. All other terms of the Letter of Appointment dated June 2015 remain in effect.
May God continue to bless each of you as you use your gifts and skills for the good of St. Anne's.
In Christian faith,
The Right Reverend Robert F. Bennett
Bishop of Huron

On Monday, June 1, 2015, The Rev. Rita Harrison began her appointment as interim rector at St. Anne’s Byron for a period of one year. She has significant experience in interim ministry, most recently at St. Paul’s Cathedral in London, Ontario. She has a BSc (Honours) degree in Mathematics from Carleton University, a BEd from the University of Ottawa, and an MDiv from the Boston University School of Theology. Before ordination, she was a teacher in high schools, colleges and universities in Ottawa and Boston. In the last 19 years she has worked in the dioceses of Ottawa, Saskatoon, Kootenay (BC) and Huron.

Rita is married to the Ven. Dr. William Harrison, Director of Mission and Ministry, Diocese of Huron and they have two sons, Richard and Charles, attending Banting. Last summer they moved to London from Vernon, BC where she was Associate Priest at All Saints Anglican Church. Much of her ministry revolves around pastoral care, Christian education, and training others in these areas. Rita has reviewed curriculum and Christian Education resources for Anglican Theological Review.

She is eagerly looking forward to working with the community of St. Anne's during this time of transition and said “I know that times of transition can be challenging, but I also know that with clarity of communication, trust in God, and good will, we will discern the Spirit's path and move forward to wholeness.”

The Rev. Rita Harrison prefers to be addressed as Rita.
